As Disney's first African-American princess, Anika Noni Rose has continued to deliver outstanding performances, and, in 2011, was named a Disney Legend, one of the most distinguished Walt Disney Awards! Anika Noni Rose ("Tiana") was born September 6, 1972 and would begin her acting career in high school. After studying at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, Anika moved to the Big Apple to pursue her dreams! 

Within months, Anika landed her first big Broadway play, Footloose, and her big break would come in 2004 when cast in the play Caroline, or Change. The part would thrust her into the spotlight and even earn her a Tony Award!

Anika Noni Rose as "Tiana" would come in 2009 after she had established herself in both the Broadway scene and on-screen. In 2006, starring in the Academy Award-winning musical drama Dreamgirls, alongside Beyoncé Knowles, Jennifer Hudson, Jamie Foxx, and Eddie Murphy, Anika would cement herself as a figure to watch in Hollywood.

The role that would change her life forever, however, was the voice of The Princess and the Frog's "Tiana". The first African-American princess, "Tiana" became a leading figure in reinforcing positive portrayals of African-Americans.

Gaining an NAACP Image Award nomination and three Black Reel Award nominations, in 2011, Anika Noni Rose would receive one of the most esteemed awards, the Disney Legend! It was also just announced that Disney will be revamping their iconic Splash Mountain ride with a Princess and the Frog theme!
