Ben Platt's Broadway beginnings started out with a bang! Luckily for him, it came as no surprise that he would have the Hollywood blood, as his father is a producer whose credits include La La Land, Wicked, and Legally Blonde.
Born on September 24, 1993, Platt was born and raised in sunny Los Angeles. By the age of 9, he was already performing alongside actress and singer Kristin Chenoweth. And already at 11, he was already on a national tour for the musical production Caroline, or Change... not a bad start!
Ben Platt Broadway Star
Ben Platt's first Broadway production was actually in 2012 for The Book of Mormon, one of the most successful musicals ever created. The hit show has grossed over $500 million globally! It was written by South Park creators, Trey Stone and Matt Park, as well as songwriter Robert Lopez.
He performed for this particular production from 2012-2015! Afterwards, he starred in Dear Evan Hansen, which appeared on stage from 2015-2017. Even during his time during these two productions, Platt squeezed in some time for his film debut in Pitch Perfect (2012) and Pitch Perfect 2 (2015).
Ben's singing popularity grew such a big fan base that his own Netflix special from Radio City Music Hall in NYC was just released this May 2020, titled Ben Platt Live from Radio City Music Hall!
Most recently, Ben Platt has been starring opposite Gwyneth Paltrow in the Ryan Murphy-directed series, The Politican, which is also available on Netflix! The show's second season just came out June 2020, so you have time to catch up!
