Carrie Underwood Forgets To Thank Family In Her ACM Speech: "I Feel Like A Dummy"
During her 2020 ACM Awards acceptance speech, Carrie Underwood forgot to thank some people who are pretty important to her! Underwood received the award for Entertainer of the Year, and told reporters afterward that she felt stupid for not acknowledging husband Mike Fisher and their two kids during the ceremony. Here's what she said about it!
Carrie Underwood forgot to thank her family while she gave her acceptance speech at the 2020 ACM Awards, and she feels incredibly bad about it! As Entertainment Tonight shares, the ceremony took place on September 16, 2020, and Underwood addressed her mistake in the virtual pressroom later that night.
Underwood says she loves her husband and kids
Underwood admitted that she felt stupid for leaving out husband Mike Fisher and their sons— 5-year-old Isaiah and 1-year-old Jacob— as she accepted the award for Entertainer of the Year. "First I want to say that I'm a dummy for not mentioning my husband or my children in my acceptance speech," she told reporters.
The country superstar was apologetic for omitting three of the people closest to her. "You would think after this many years of seeing other people do speeches and give some of my own, I would think of people that are important to me, so I'm sorry!" she continued on to say. "But I do love my children and my husband."
Underwood talks about tying for award with Thomas Rhett
Underwood talked to Entertainment Tonight's Rachel Smith after her exciting win as well, sharing how she felt about being named Entertainer of the Year. And she wasn't the only one taking home the title— in a complete surprise, Underwood tied for the award with Thomas Rhett!
"It feels great. Obviously there's so many people that make our worlds go round, so just to be able to hold this for myself, of course, but also for them, it means a lot," Underwood shared. "And I like to share. I like to share with people, so I just think it's really great that ... it's 2020, nothing's going to be normal!"
Underwood and her husband recently gave fans an emotional glimpse into their private life as a married couple with their show Mike and Carrie: God & Country. And although 2020 hasn't exactly been the most normal year, it seems to be going pretty well for Underwood so far!
