Céline Dion Ends 16-Year Las Vegas Residency With Emotional Show
The Colosseum at Caesar's Palace on the Las Vegas Strip said goodbye to a very familiar face from the last 16 years on Saturday June 8th. Céline Dion ended her longstanding Las Vegas residency with an emotional show as well as debuting a new song appropriately called "Flying On My Own".
Saturday June 8th was an emotional final goodbye for Céline Dion with her last show of her 16 year long Las Vegas Residency. 4,298 people were gathered in The Colosseum at Caesars Palace for her final performance. "I'm supposed to know what to say. I am very excited and I am a little bit emotional at the same time. This is our final show in this beautiful Colosseum in Las Vegas. There are lots of wonderful memories, you know, but it's kind of strange at the same time, because when they started to put it together I was here and it was like, 'I don't know.'" Céline said to her fans.
Love and support from her late husband René Angelil
"I must have misunderstood something because I thought I was going to be here for three months or something like this, and here we are 16 years later. Maybe we have saved the best for last," Céline continued in an emotional speech to her audience on Saturday. She also mentioned the constant love and support she received from her late husband, René Angelil, throughout her Vegas career.
Céline debuted a brand new song to which she admitted she was very nervous for, called "Flying On My Own". Along with going through her many hits from throughout the course of her career, the crowd was singing along and loving every second of the emotional final performance.
When the show ended, Céline Dion was joined on stage by her three children, René-Charles (18) and eight-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy, with flowers in hand to present to their mother. She was able to keep her emotions in check as she thanked her fans, her family and all those who have supported her through the years.

Céline Dion launched her Las Vegas Residency in March 2003 and has performed 1,144 shows in Vegas for more than four million fans according to People Magazine. The show has generated more than $700 million in ticket sales and has therefore made Céline Dion the most successful and influential residency act to play the Las Vegas strip. She has proved that singers really can succeed with their Las Vegas Residencies at the peak of their popularity.
