Katie McGlynn was interviewed by the Mirror recently and has revealed how hard it was for her to film and also watch the harrowing cancer death of her character "Sinead Tinker" on Coronation Street. Last Friday marked "Sinead's" final episode and her eventual death from cervical cancer had the 26-year-old McGlynn in tears as she watched, saying that it felt like she was mourning a close friend.

"It was like the storyline got embedded in my head – I couldn't stop thinking about it and crying," McGlynn tells the Mirror.

Coronation Street: "Sinead Tinker's" death had Katie in tears

But her emotions were already all over the place in the build-up to Sinead's eventual passing: "I was sitting on my sofa watching the programme in which 'Sinead' is told she has weeks to live, and I started to cry. The next day I just kept crying. I couldn't stop. I ended up going to see a counsellor who told me that I was mourning 'Sinead'."

Then it happened last Friday, October 25 - "Sinead Tinker" died and millions watched her final moments as she lay in her husband "Daniel's" (Rob Mallard) arms.

After playing the character for seven years, Katie McGlynn could not shake the sudden crying, which is why she's still seeing the counselor three times every week.

"[...] I got the role aged 19 and Sinead had become like a friend to me. Throughout my adult life. She's been inside of my head for seven years and my whole life was wrapped around her."
