Pop icon Costa Cordalis is dead. The pop singer died on 2 July surrounded by his family on Mallorca. His son Lucas Cordalis made his first statement shortly after his father's passing.
Costa Cordalis (†75) had been struggling with health problems for quite some time. In February he had to be admitted to hospital. The reason: he fainted for no apparent reason. The man who sang hits such as "Anita" had to spent several weeks in the clinic.
Again and again there were updates about the health of the popular singer. Lucas Cordalis and his wife Daniela Katzenberger again and again had fans hoping that things would get better. Then the singer was released again after several weeks in the clinic.

But at the end of April, Costa Cordalis had to go back to hospital. On his birthday in May, Daniela Katzenberger posted some great pictures, when he seemed to be feeling better again. But apparently the singer with Greek roots never really recovered. Fans now mourn the legendary singer, who left us at the age of 75.
The cause of Costa Cordalis' death has not yet been announced. The only thing known is that he fell asleep peacefully and that his family was with him.

While Germany is still mourning the loss of Costa Cordalis, it is now clear that there will be no funeral for the pop singer. This was also clear from his son's first statement.
According to this, the "Anita" interpreter will be cremated. His urn would then be kept by his family on Mallorca.

Meanwhile, many friends of Costa Cordalis took to social media and posted touching memories and messages on social media.
Singer Anna-Carina Woitschack (26) wrote: "One of the nicest and warmest artists I ever got to know". Jürgen Drews (74) said goodbye to his colleague with an emotional text: "Costa, we will miss you very much. In thoughts we are with Ingrid, the children and the whole family".
Iris Klein (52), mother of Costa Cordalis' daughter-in-law Daniela Katzenberger (32), also said farewell. "REST IN PEACE, dear Costa, you were an angel on earth ....We will see each other again", she writes on Instagram.
