Country Queen Faith Hill: Her Career Then & Now
Faith is not only one of the most powerful female country singers, but one of the most recognized country artists of all time! She started all the way at the bottom and impressively worked herself to the top of the music chain. She's now famously married to her country husband Tim McGraw. Let's take a look at her life during her breakthrough success!
Faith Hill was born Audrey Faith Perry on September 21, 1967. She was born and raised in Mississippi, where she expressed her talent for singing at the young age of seven. What really inspired her was a performance by the one and only Elvis Presley, who held a concert at a state fair when she was just turning 9. During her teenage years, Hill performed at churches and local rodeos.
A natural born performer!
At age 19, Hill dropped out of her local community college to move to Nashville. Although she tried out to be one of Reba McEntire's back-up singers, she didn't get the gig. Her struggle to make it big resulted in smaller jobs across the county - from McDonald's to selling t-shirts. It would take years for her to be discovered at a bar by a Warner Bros. Records executive, who then signed her up for a recording contract.
In 1994, Hill and her former husband had divorced. Yet, her career was just taking off as she recorded her first album, Take Me as I Am. It was a huge success and certainly the breakthrough that she was looking for. Two years later, Hill and Tim McGraw would meet on tour, and the rest is history.
The dynamic singing duo have been married since 1996 and have two daughters together. Hill continued recording album after album, including Faith and Breathe. She won her first CMA award in 2007 for "It's Your Love" which featured her husband. In total, she has won 3 CMA awards (22 nominations) and an outstanding 5 Grammy's (17 nominations).
Hill has now released eight studio albums, with the latest one as a collaborative album with McGraw. Hill has even served as a guest judge in many TV series, such as The Voice and Project Runway. Her newest achievement will be a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this year!
We're excited to see what the next step is in the McGraw family!
