David Crosby offered a few brief comments related to the passing of Beckett Cypher at the age of 21. Crosby was the sperm donor who helped Melissa Etheridge and Julie Cypher conceive Beckett in 1998.

Yesterday, Melissa Etheridge's team confirmed the news of her and Julie Cypher's son Beckett's tragic passing. The 21-year-old died after an opioid overdose.

Beckett Cypher's biological father, David Crosby, speaks out

Musician David Crosby was the boy's biological father, having donated his sperm in 1998 to the former couple. He was also the donor for their daughter Bailey, according to People.

Late Wednesday night, Crosby sent out a set of tweets that responded to others who had reached out and, in one case, to someone who had promoted false information about his relationship with Beckett.

The first tweet responded to a now deleted tweet, which, according to ET, read: "I respectfully point out, David was their donor. They did not have a son 'with' him. He was Melissa and Julie's child. They raised him. Like most donors, he played no other part."

Crosby corrected the tweet, saying simply: "Not true."

He went on to respond to a fan who offered kind words to Crosby amid a difficult year. "Maybe it's a test," he suggested.

David Crosby doesn't expect support from CSN&Y musicians

Crosby, 78, ended his evening on Twitter with a jab at his former Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young bandmates. A Twitter user questioned whether or not any of the musicians (Stephen Stills, Graham Nash, and Neil Young) would "reach out to [Crosby] regarding the loss of Beckett."

Crosby replied, "I doubt it but ...you never know."
