Dolly Parton Is Planning to Make A Film About "I Will Always Love You"

Dolly Parton plans to make a movie based on "I Will Always Love You".

In a recent interview, the country music legend Dolly Parton has vowed to make a film based on her mega hit "I Will Always Love You" if her Netflix anthology series is successful. Dolly Parton's Heartstrings has been out on Netflix since November 22.

The Netflix series Dolly Parton's Heartstrings plays out eight of Dolly's iconic songs into mini-movies for the streaming giant. The song "I Will Always Love you" was made famous by Whitney Houston after Elvis Presley actually wanted to record it in the seventies. Parton shared her experiences on Late Night with Seth Meyers:

"Colonel Tom [Elvis' manager] said I had to give away half the publishing, because Elvis didn't record anything unless he had half the publishing. I told him I couldn't do it, because I was leaving that [the money] for my family..."

Whitney Houston's version was released on The Bodyguard soundtrack two decades later. It became one of the best-selling singles of all time.

"I was so flattered, so honored and so lucky that she did it, because the song didn't sound like that when I had it."
