Duffy Releases New Song Revealing She Was Held Captive And Raped For Days
We have not heard the unbelievably powerful voice of Duffy in years, until now. She has released a song for free to the public announcing the reason why she was gone from the spotlight for so long.
Duffy came back to the public to explain to her fans what happened.
Duffy, Baring Her Heart For Fans
A few weeks ago Duffy posted and deep and beautiful message to Instagram about the reason why she had not been producing music or performing. She stated "The truth is, and please trust me I am ok and safe now, I was raped and drugged and held captive over some days. Of course I survived. The recovery took time. There's no light way to say it."
"I did not want to show the world the sadness in my eyes. I asked myself, how can I sing from the heart if it is broken? And slowly it unbroke."
"Mercy" Singer Duffy Shares Her Message Through New Song
She then sent a message to BBC Radio 2's Jo Whiley with the song attached to be played in hopes that it "lifts spirits" during worldwide lock down. She said it "feels exciting and liberating for me to talk" and in releasing this song "I do feel freer."
