Born on July 18, 1997, in London, Fionn Whitehead and his fans are already seeing a bright acting career ahead of him. While the now 23-year old actor is known for his role in the award-winning film Dunkirk, he's also been starring in other critically acclaimed films, alongside some of the greatest actors of our time...
Fionn Whitehead's film and TV acting debut
Fionn Whitehead had his acting debut in the 2016 ITV miniseries Him, where he had the main role portraying a boy who found out he had telekinetic powers. His film debut was actually in the critically acclaimed Dunkirk, which won three Golden Globes and three Academy Awards!
After his success with Dunkirk, Fionn appeared in the British series Queer and Black Mirror. The same year, he also starred alongside Stanley Tucci and Emma Thompson in the film The Children Act (2017), where he was nominated for the London Film Critics' Circle Award for Young British/Irish Performer of the Year.
Fionn Whitehead's career today
In 2019, Whitehead starred in two other international drama films: Roads and Port Authority.
His latest film, Don't Tell a Soul, was supposed to be released at the Tribeca Film Festival this year, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was cancelled. However, the thriller film has a great cast with Rainn Wilson and Mena Suvari!
While the corona pandemic may be slowing things down in Hollywood and London, the young actor has an upcoming film called The Duke, which also stars Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren. The comedy-drama film should be released this November!
Fionn's view on stardom? "I have no interest in it", he told Vice i-D back in 2017. He further added:
"It's so important to keep a sense of normality. I have a close group of friends and a supportive family. They always keep me grounded and never let me get big-headed. I also don't have Instagram as it feeds that whole machine. If you want to do that side of it, that's absolutely fine, it doesn't mean you're a bad actor. I just don't like the idea of people knowing me on a personal level."
Considering he's already starring in films with some of the greatest acting legends, we're certainly looking forward to what's next for Fionn Whitehead and his acting career!
