Glastonbury Festival Might Not Return Until 2022 Due To Coronavirus

After the 2020 Glastonbury Festival had to be canceled due to COVID-19, the organizers are still analyzing possible scenarios for the festival, which might not even be held until 2022 so that the coronavirus won't be a factor against the music festival. Find out why the Glastonbury Festival might not return for two years here...

Glastonbury is one of the largest and most prestigious music festivals in the world, that takes place every year in England. Now, it could be suspended until 2022, despite the fact that the organizers are working to make it possible from next year on. The truth is that they do not have the certainty that it can develop due to the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing restrictions, a fact that has led them to set the stage to carry out the festival again in two years' time.

Glastonbury Festival Might Not Return Until 2022

Glastonbury's founder, Michael Eavis, who despite making evident the efforts being made, is aware of the difficult picture that is being presented. "500 people is okay, isn't it. But my job, 250,000 altogether, is too many people I suppose... I'm still hoping I'm going to be running next year and I'm going to be moving heaven and earth to make sure that we do. But that doesn't mean it will necessarily happen. That is just wishful thinking, really," Michael said to ITV News West Country.

Therefore, Michael made it clear that going back in 2022 is a more realistic possibility. Still, he assured the public that he is not worried about a possible disappearance of the festival, since he trusts that it will return "stronger" than ever.

Glastonbury Will Return "Stronger" Than Ever

"No I do not worry at all, I am so confident that it will survive. The only certainty I think is the year after, 2022. To be perfectly candid… so we might have to wait for two years, maybe. But I am still hoping and we are fighting and working at it all the time to make sure it happens next year," he added.

In 2020, it was planned to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the festival, which would have a solid lineup, including names such as Paul McCartney, Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, Thom Yorke, and Primal Scream, among many others.

#repost @emily_eavis: So, after much consideration given the current circumstances, and with the best of intentions, here is the first list of musical acts for Glastonbury 2020. ⁣ ⁣ As things stand we are still working hard to deliver our 50th anniversary Festival in June and we are very proud of the bill that we have put together over the last year or so. No one has a crystal ball to see exactly where we will all be 15 weeks from now, but we are keeping our fingers firmly crossed that it will be here at Worthy Farm for the greatest show on Earth!⁣ ⁣ As always this is just a taste of what is to come, we plan to announce many more artists and attractions, area by area, over the coming weeks leading up to the full line-up in May.⁣ ⁣ In the meantime we post this with much love to all. ⁣ ⁣ (There's also a non-circular version of the line-up - and full text list - on our website now) #glastonbury #glastonbury2020
