Late American actress Gloria Stuart graced Hollywood with her talent and beauty for over seven decades! The legacy she has left behind in Hollywood has paved the path for other aspiring stars! In memoriam of her July birthday, we are taking a look back at her incredible career!

Born July 4, 1910 in Santa Monica, California, Gloria Stuart would begin her acting career in high school, later graduating from the University of California Berkeley with a degree in philosophy and drama.

It wouldn't take Gloria long after graduating to land a film contract with Universal Pictures and by 1932 she had taken on her first role big role in English director, James Whale's cult classic horror film The Old Dark House

Gloria Stuart's Rise to Fame

Following her outstanding performance in The Old Dark House, Gloria Stuart's career would only go uphill from there. Critics and directors alike fell in love with the actress's charming personality and she would go on to star in a number of classics including The Invisible Man (1933), Poor Little Rich Girl (1936), Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm (1938), and The Three Musketeers (1939).

However, by 1940, Gloria Stuart's career would change directions and she would shift to regional theater and take up a career as an artist! She proved herself both a talented actress and artist and many of her works are now on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art!

Gloria Stuart's Later Years

Gloria Stuart would return to Hollywood in her later years and grew a new generation of fans with roles in Richard Benjamin's My Favorite Year (1982), Wildcats (1986), and Titanic (1997). Gloria's final role would come in 2004 with an appearance in Land of Plenty.

The multi-talented actress would spend the last few years of her life battling lung cancer until her death in 2010. Despite her illness she would live to be 100-years-old! In addition to an incredible legacy as one of the most successful Pre-Code actresses, Gloria Stuart leaves behind a daughter, four grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren! May she rest in peace!
