Hollywood Legend Audrey Hepburn: These Are Her Two Sons
Audrey Hepburn is one of the few Hollywood icons who will truly go down in history. She died in 1993 at just sixty-three leaving her two sons Sean and Luca behind. Even though they were both grown up when their mother died, it was still a devastating loss. This is what they are up to nowadays, twenty-five years after the Breakfast at Tiffany's star's death.
Audrey Hepburn (†63) was married twice. Her first husband was actor and director Mel Ferrer (†90), whom she married in 1954.
Audrey had just found fame, having starred in Roman Holiday and won an Oscar for her very first role. After appearing in countless silver screen hits, she took a step back from acting and dedicated her time to family life when her son Sean was born in 1960.
Audrey Hepburn's first son
Audrey Hepburn's son Sean Hepburn Ferrer (58) followed in his parents footsteps and also became a show business sensation, albeit as a producer and not actor. His most successful projects were the mini series Cloudstreet and the documentary Racehoss, which he also directed himself. After three failed marriages, he is now happily married to his fourth wife Karin.
He authored a book about his mother, Audrey Hepburn: An Elegant Spirit, which was published in 2003. He revealed in an interview with the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung that Audrey was not only "a mother to him, but also a fantastic friend". Audrey's sons meant the world to her and were more important to her than success, "my mother gave up her career to look after me and my half brother Luca".
Audrey Hepburn's second son
Audrey Hepburn's marriage to Mel Ferrer ended in 1968 and Sean moved in with his mother. Just one year later, the gorgeous Audrey tied the knot once again, marrying Italian psychiatrist Andrea Dotti (†69), whom she met whilst on a Mediterranean cruise. Their son, Luca, was born in 1970. Sadly their marriage did not last and, when Luca was just ten years old, Andrea and Audrey split up.
Luca Dotti (48) also works in the creative industry as a graphic designer. He, too, wrote a book about the fond memories he has of his mother. In Audrey at Home: Memories of My Mother's Kitchen, he reveals his mother's favourite recipes and dishes.
