The 59-year-old actor Hugh Grant defended Prince Harry's decision of stepping back as a senior member of the royal family and becoming financially independent. During an appearance on Andy Cohen's Radio Andy show, where he was promoting his new film The Gentlemen, Hugh Grant said: "I’m rather on Harry’s side. The tabloid press effectively murdered his mother, now they’re tearing his wife to pieces."

The Bridget Jones star said that Princess Diana's death in 1997 is a very important aspect Prince Harry is considering - the late Princess of Wales was in a vehicle being pursued by paparazzi when it crashed, killing three of the four passengers. "I think as a man, it’s his job to protect his family, so I’m with him," added Hugh Grant, who also explained that his very personal relationship with tabloids "is very poor."
