Jim Carrey has commented on his relationship with Rénee Zellweger two decades after it ended! As People mentions, the acknowledgment came during an interview on The Howard Stern Show, when Stern brought up how Carrey mentions Zellweger in his new book.
Carrey shares thoughts on Zellweger: "I think she's lovely"
Carrey and Zellweger met when they starred opposite one another in the 1999 comedy Me, Myself & Irene. They then dated for a year before splitting up in 2000. And in Carrey's new book, titled Memoirs and Misinformation: A Novel, Carrey reportedly calls Zellweger his "last great love."
"She definitely was special to me, very special, I think she's lovely," Carrey said of Zellweger when asked. Carrey also shared he doesn't have any regrets— about his relationship with her or otherwise. "I don't have those things," he explained, "but I do appreciate the people that have come through my life for the good that they gave me."
Carrey had said Zellweger was "a very connected person"
Carrey opened up to Entertainment Weekly back in 2000 about his then-relationship with Zellweger. "She’s a very connected person. She thinks having a good time is renting a U-Haul and taking furniture to Texas," he said. "She’s real in that way and I absolutely love it."
As for Zellweger, she explained to CNN how she'd realized her feelings for Carrey. "I liked him, a lot," Zellweger admitted, "but you're not going [to the set] for the love connection. However, after filming was over, things changed for the two.
"When the picture wrapped, we'd spoken a couple of times on the phone and then all those rumors came out that I was dating him. I was so mad. I said, 'No, it's not true.' And then I went home … and I went, 'God, I do miss him.'"
