On Thursday, Kelly Clarkson released a brand-new single titled "I Dare You". Find out why she hopes that the empowering ballad will help bring people together globally!

Kelly Clarkson is daring people to choose love and unity in her powerful new song! The singer and talk show host just dropped her new single "I Dare You", and the message behind it is certainly a timely one. With a chorus that features emboldened lyrics such as "You may not have a stage, but you still have a voice," and "You may not have the strength, but if you have a choice, I dare you to love," Clarkson urges her listeners to favour compassion.

As Entertainment Weekly reports, Clarkson appeared on the Today show on Thursday to talk about the song. "It's basically like, I dare you to love instead of fear, instead of hate," she explained. "Just engage with people and engage with yourself again, and remember we're all a human race".

Clarkson recorded her new song in six different languages

Clarkson went on to say that "I Dare You" had been in the works for over a year, and while she'd had the desire to record a song in multiple languages before, she "never had a song that fit" with that concept. However, she saw the globally unifying theme of "I Dare You" as the perfect opportunity for her to realize this idea!

Aside from singing the song in English, Clarkson recorded "I Dare You" in five other languages. Enlisting the help of international recording artists Zaz ("Appelle Ton Amour" in French), Faouzia ("كنتحداك" in Arabic), Blas Cantó ("Te Reto A Amar" in Spanish), Glasperlenspiel ("Trau Dich" in German), and Maya Buskila ("בוא נראה" in Hebrew), Clarkson made the message of her new ballad multilingual.

Clarkson chose to release song due to its relevant message

"The message was perfect," Clarkson said of her decision to release "I Dare You" in the midst of the world's current circumstances. "I thought it was kind of globally connecting, and I wanted to do that musically". And while she considered not releasing it when she'd originally planned, Clarkson recognized how relevant the song truly was.

"We were going to shelve it for a minute, but it was planned to come out today and I thought, maybe people need this message today," she shared. Clarkson also released a lyric video for "I Dare You" along with the track, which is a visual celebration of all forms of love. Featuring photographs of people from all kinds of backgrounds and walks of life sharing love with each other, the video further contributes to the song's message.
