Leonardo DiCaprio narrates voting initiative video
Leonardo DiCaprio is making it clear that this voting season one of the most important in recent history! Working alongside the former First Lady, Michelle Obama, DiCaprio is hoping this will help spark some change for the American people.
In the clip released for Whose Vote Counts, Explained, a limited Netflix series hoping to educate voters on the importance of their role, DiCaprio explains why voting is a huge privilege.
According to People, DiCaprio explained, "In 1776, voting was a privilege, almost exclusively for white men with property."
Another narrator continued, "In the founding constitution, you will not find the right to vote. This right to vote has been a battlefield in American democracy."
"If your vote didn’t matter, why the hell are so many systems and people trying so hard to prevent you from voting," a man says, before DiCaprio adds, "All of us may have been created equal. But we’ll never actually be equal until we all vote. So don’t wait."
Obama launched the "We All Vote" initiative in 2018 as a non-partisan way to encourage everyone to take part in elections.
Whose Vote Counts, Explained is available on Netflix September 28. Watch the clip below:
