Nikki Reed Designed The Cutest Earth Day T-Shirts Made From Recycled Water Bottles
Teaming up with an eco-friendly fashion brand, Nikki Reed has created some special t-shirts perfect for Earth Day! Find out more about this exciting collaboration here!
Nikki Reed has designed some fun t-shirts for an important cause! As People exclusively shared, the Twilight star— who's known to be one of the most prominent environmentalists in Hollywood— recently teamed up with clothing brand UpWest for their Earth Day collection. Designing two limited-edition shirts for the company that use a material blend made from recycled bottles, Reed got creative when it came to her collaboration.
Both shirts in her UpWest capsule collection, which are now available online, feature a simple image on the front and a witty slogan on the back. The $32 women's t-shirt says "Your Mama Is A Badass", while the $34 men's version reads "Don't Trash My Mother". All net proceeds from the shirts through June will be donated to the Ian Somerhalder Foundation, an environmental outreach and education organization named for Reed's husband.
Reed calls collaboration with UpWest "really exciting" for her
Reed opened up to People about her partnership with UpWest for their Earth Day collection, revealing that it allowed her to stay true to her "quality over quantity" ethos. She also commented on the fact that she loves the brand's "chic, comfy, and outdoorsy" style as well as what they stand for.
“UpWest was immediately able to kind of step up to the plate and say, ‘We love that you are focused on using recycled materials. We want to do that too,'" Reed shared. "That was really exciting for me". The senior vice president of UpWest, Jamie Schisler, also voiced excitement about joining forces with Reed.
"Our team thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with Nikki," Schisler told People. "Her personal commitment and passion for sustainability align with the UpWest mission of positively impacting people and planet. We are proud and excited to introduce this collaboration to our customers".
Reed says there's been a "huge shift" in sustainable living
Reed also admitted that sustainable fashion can be difficult to support, because there are a variety of factors that make it costly. "Any time that you’re searching for anything that’s organic, recycled, upcycled or produced locally, there’s a premium to be paid for that," the actress, who has her own sustainable lifestyle brand Bayou With Love, told People.
She then went on to talk about what will help make sustainable brands more easily accessible to people. "It’s the job of the consumer and businesses to sort of prioritize that," Reed shared. "I think as that becomes the norm, that premium will change". Reed also mentioned how she has seen a "huge shift" when it comes to the way the world views sustainable living.
"We’re so concerned with what we put in our bodies now, which is great. You know, now people really prioritize farmer’s markets and buying organic local food, which is awesome," she said. "Now, we’re getting to this place in the world of fashion where we’re asking the same questions and putting the connections together that what we put on our bodies is also a big thing".

Our Earth Day collab with @Go_UpWest is here! We spent the weekend with sound-bath, beach clean-up and meditation with a little body/facial love sprinkled in topped off by an amazing plant-based dinner watching the sunset together. Time with these girls is precious and I am more thankful than ever that we had two full days to download, connect, laugh, share stories and hugs thanks to my amazing UpWest family. I find inspiration in this amazing community, and also by collaborating with brands that see through a similar lens. There is so much progress to be made in the fashion world, so why not make progress by using recycled fabrics and materials while also supporting a cause that is working towards a similar goal? My UpWest t-shirt collab celebrating Mother Earth is here and 100% of the proceeds today through June 30 will benefit @isfofficial furthering their mission to have a positive impact on the planet and its creatures. Doing good also feels good, and it's important to give back every time we take from our planet! Thank you @Go_UpWest for mirroring my same feelings on this, and for a wonderful year of working together. It's only the beginning❤️ #UpWestPartner #ConsciousComfort #GoUpWest
