Priyanka Chopra Jonas has opened up about what quarantine has been like for her and her husband Nick Jonas, sharing that she's looking forward to working again! As Entertainment Tonight shares, Chopra talked about taking precautions during the pandemic and her upcoming new movie in a new video interview!
Chopra says she and Jonas have been "super careful"
Chopra explained that she and Jonas' health issues have caused them to take extra care when it comes to any social interactions during the pandemic. "We've been very, very safe actually, because Nick is Type 1 [diabetic], and I'm asthmatic," she told Entertainment Tonight's Rachel Smith. "So, you know, we've just been super careful about who we interact with and how we do it."
She also mentioned that there are certain things she's glad quarantine has changed for the world— at least for the time being! "Traffic. I don't miss being stuck in traffic and going to meetings," Chopra admitted. "I'm actually really grateful to be able to wear sweatpants with, like, a formal shirt and, you know, do an interview."
Chopra says mother-daughter relationship drew her to Evil Eye
Chopra revealed that she's "so excited about going back to set" now that she's able to, and that she's been staying busy even while working from home! "I've been doing a lot of developmental stuff and producing a bunch of work, so actually quarantine has been very, very productive for both me and Nick," she shared. "But just the idea of tangibly being back on set is, like, crazy."
As Entertainment Tonight mentions, one of the projects Chopra is referring to is her upcoming movie, Evil Eye. The actress developed the horror thriller— which is about a mother who gifts her daughter an "evil eye" bracelet as a token of protection— through her production company Purple Pebble Pictures, in collaboration with Jason Blum's Blumhouse Productions.
During her video interview, Chopra revealed what made her interested in being part of that particular movie! "It compelled me so much because of multiple reasons, [including] having two really strong female parts," she said of Evil Eye. "I have a very, very tight relationship with my mother, and I love that mother-daughter relationship."
Chopra calls producing Evil Eye "a dream come true"
Chopra also reflected on how the on-screen representation Evil Eye offers is also incredibly important to her as an Indian woman. "My quest in life, as a producer, is to influx Hollywood with brown people, because we don't see enough of us," she explained. "And to be able to do an all South Asian cast in a movie with Amazon and Blumhouse -- who are both powerhouses -- was a dream come true for me."
"I want to demand leading parts for people who are like me. I want to have girls that look like me... start to be on the poster of a movie," Chopra affirmed. "It's my greatest joy and honor to be able to create opportunities where I didn't have them." It's great to hear that Chopra has managed to make the best out of quarantine, and if you're interested in checking out her brand-new movie, Evil Eye is now available on Amazon Prime Video!
