While fans are eager for Rihanna to release new music, the R&B singer is in no rush to drop it any time soon! Here's what she said about her upcoming ninth album!

Rihanna is being candid when it comes to what people can expect from her upcoming new music! And according to her recent interview with British Vogue, her ninth album sounds like it could be her most unpredictable one yet. That's because unlike some of her previous albums, Rihanna revealed she doesn't have any particular structure or concept in mind for it!

"I don’t want all my albums to feel like themes," the singer explained. "There are no rules, there’s no format, there’s nothing". And since the album will be less structured, Rihanna shared that its content will include whatever kind of music she feels like making. "There’s just good music and if I feel it, I’m putting it out," she said.

Rihanna on upcoming album: "I can make anything I want"

Rihanna went on to talk about how there's limitless possibilities when it comes to the sound of her next album, which she confirmed to British Vogue will incorporate reggae in some way. "Oh no, that is happening," she shared when asked about a comment she'd made to American Vogue in fall 2019, where she said the album would be "reggae-inspired" or "reggae-infused".

However, just because she knows one genre she'd like to explore, Rihanna isn't placing any limitations on herself for album number nine. "I feel like I have no boundaries," she stated. "I’ve done everything — I’ve done all the hits, I’ve tried every genre — now I’m just, I’m wide open. I can make anything that I want".

For now, it seems like fans eagerly anticipating the release of Rihanna's next album, which they've dubbed "R9" since it currently has no title, will likely have a while to wait. "I can’t say when I’m going to drop," Rihanna told British Vogue. "But I am very aggressively working on music". While her album is still in the works, Rihanna dropped a new song with rapper PartyNextDoor earlier this month, called "Believe It".
