On Sunday, Robert De Niro spoke out on the importance of social distancing. He's concerned about the coronavirus, and is preaching unity and compassion in these difficult times. De Niro's message emphasized the necessity of quarantining and social distancing. "We all need to stay home. We need to stop the spread of this virus and we can only do it together. Not just to protect ourselves, but to protect others and all the older people you love," he says in the video.

He then concludes the video by saying, "Please: I'm watching you," along with the hand gesture he popularized in Meet the Parents. De Niro starred as the overbearing father in-law of Ben Stiller's character in 2000's Meet the Parents. The movie remains a popular - and quotable - romantic comedy.

Robert De Niro and Andrew Cuomo connect for the message

De Niro's video message appeared on the Twitter account of New York governor Andrew Cuomo. It seems the governor enlisted the assistance of the popular actor to reinforce the seriousness of the quarantine message and social distancing.

While you're at home, you can spend time revisiting some of De Niro's classic films such as Good Fellas (which is on Netflix now) and Taxi Driver (which hits Netflix in April). He also starred in The Irishman last year - it's a Netflix production, so it's always streaming on the service.
