RuPaul Dedicates Emmy Win To The Late Chi Chi DeVayne, Who Was Left Out Of Primetime Memoriam
After winning another Primetime Emmy Award for the infamous RuPaul Drag's Race, RuPaul is dedicating the win to the late Chi Chi DeVayne, who passed away last month due to health complications. Fans were quick to notice, however, that she was left out of the Primetime Memoriam.
Another win for the drag competition show, RuPaul's Drag Race! RuPaul was more than happy with the win and took a moment to remember one of the most memorable contestants.
Last month, Chi Chi DeVayne passed away due to complications with her health, and RuPaul took a moment to honour the late queen, despite the fact DeVayne was left out of the Memoriam.
Chi Chi DeVayne remembered by RuPaul
During his acceptance speech for winning outstanding host for a reality or competition program at the 2020 Emmy Awards, RuPaul took a moment to honour the late Chi Chi DeVayne, a previous contestant for season 8 of RuPaul's Drag Race, as well as season 3 of RuPaul's Drag Race AllStars.
DeVayne, who passed away at just 34 years old, was a fan favourite for her outgoing personality, and quick one-liners veiled with that charming southern accent.
"I'd like to dedicate this Emmy to one of my girls, Chi Chi DeVayne," RuPaul started his speech. "May you rest in power and perfection."
"Tonight the only political statement I want to make is this: love," Ru continued. "Love for our LGBT brothers and sisters, love for our Black queens and brown queens and love for the United States of America."

While fans were moved and touched by Ru's statement and acceptance, many were disappointed when watching the Primetime Emmy In Memoriam, in which Chi Chi DeVayne was left out.
"I'm honestly a little surprised that #ChiChiDeVayne wasn't included in this year's #Emmys2020 In Memoriam... Just me?" One fan wrote on Twitter.
The Primetime in Memoriam segment played just before Ru took home the award for outstanding competition reality series.
"I thank the Academy for this beautiful honour. We love making television. It is an honor to make television. And all the kids get to tell their stories on our show and it's beautiful," Ru said.
Ru continued, "Kiddo, I know how you feel right now. Just know that you are loved. And don't give up on love. Believe in love and the power of love, okay? Thank you so much."
