Scarlett Johansson Calls For An All-Female Marvel Movie: It Would Be "Explosive And Unstoppable"
Scarlett Johansson is on board for an all-female Marvel film. Her Avengers: Endgame co-star Brie Larson is also excited about the possibility of creating an all-women superhero movie! Here's what we know...
Despite Scarlett Johansson's "Black Widow" death in Avengers: Endgame, the 34-year-old actress is pushing for an all-female Marvel movie. During an interview with Variety, the gorgeous Scarlett said that a possible film centered on just female superheroes would be "explosive and unstoppable," and that she is definitely part of the audience that wants it.
Johansson, who is currently promoting her new film Jojo Rabbit, is not the only one hoping for this. Her Avengers co-star Brie Larson ("Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel") recently said that she and other Marvel stars spoke to Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, about the possibility of creating an all-female superhero film. "A lot of the female cast members from Marvel walked up to Kevin and we were like, ‘We are in this together, we want to do this,'" Larson said.
"Black Widow" is coming back...
Although Feige has expressed some interest in an all-female film, Marvel Studios has not confirmed any official project. However, during the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con it was announced that Johansson’s "Black Widow" will get her own standalone movie, set to premiere in May 2020.
Marvel also revealed Angelina Jolie's first Marvel role in The Eternals and announced that the Black Swan star Natalie Portman would play a female "Thor" in the upcoming movie Thor: Love and Thunder, which is expected to be released in 2021.
