We have always enjoyed to see the very talented Cynthia Nixon on screen! Although she made her acting debut in the early 1980's in the 1980 Boradway revival of The Philadelphia Story, she really came to prominence for her role as "Miranda Hobbes" in the television series Sex and the City and its film sequels.

For that role, Nixon won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2004, which was the last year we saw her on the television show alongside Sarah-Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, and Kristin Davis. What has she done since then? Let's find out!

What has "Miranda Hobbes" been doing these days?

In the past years the 53-year-old has appeared in numerous television shows and films, like Law & Order: Criminal Intent, 30 Rock, Hannibal. Her most recent appearances are in the 2017 film The Only Living Boy in New York, and the 2019 movie Stray Dolls. She is currently working on a couple of exciting projects like the upcoming American drama television series Ratched, which is set to premiere in 2020, as well as in the upcoming show The Gilded Age (release date to be announced.)

Apart from acting Cynthia Nixon has pursued her career in politics. In 2018 she announced her campaign for Governor of New York. Her platform focused on income inequality, renewable energy, and universal health care, stopping mass incarceration in the States, and protecting undocumented children from deportation. She lost in the Democratic primary to Andrew Cuomo with 34% of the vote to his 66%.

Facts about the Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon

-She identifies herself as bisexual and is an advocate for LGBT rights in the United States

-Nixon is a cancer survivor! She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006 and has been since then a cancer activist

-She was the only supporting character on Sex and the City to win an Emmy award

-Since 2012 she is married to Christine Marinoni; the latter gave birth to their son Max in 2011. Nixon has two other children from her previous relationship with Danny Mozes

-She is very active on Instagram!
