TM2's Leah Messer Finally Comes Clean About Painkiller Addiction
She has come a long way since then and has really put herself back together and seems to be a beautiful and rare success story in the TM world. She has always denied having a problem with drugs even when faced with footage of herself nodding off mid-sentence. Now for the first time, she is acknowledging she had a serious problem.
She reports that during her delivery of youngest daughter Addie with ex-husband Jeremy Calvert, she had a "botched" spinal tap that left her in terrible pain and subsequently led to her painkiller reliance. She said of this scary time "I just want to feel normal, but I’m either in so much physical pain that I can barely stand, or so foggy from the pills that I look like a junkie."
During filming, she claimed she was going to rehab for her mental health and vehemently denied a drug problem and at one point lost custody of her twin daughters with ex Corey.

In her book, Messer also confesses that she had an abortion while with her ex-husband Jeremy and claimed she suffered a miscarriage to Jeremy and the cameras. This bombshell has fans shaken up.
In the memoir, Leah admits she was struggling with her feelings for ex-husband Corey Simms and was afraid if she had a child with Jeremy it would end her chances of reconciling with Corey. She and her mother cooked up a plan of pretending to miscarry to the show and her husband.
Although facing major backlash for this, Leah is confessing that this lie tore her up inside and it is time for the truth. She admitted to her ex Jeremy privately first and then in her book for fans. "I carried the pain and the guilt around with me for years, until I finally got to the point where I could hold myself accountable for my choices without punishing myself for them."
Leah boldly wrote "I’m still working on myself, growing as a person, and striving to be the best mother I can be. I can’t control what life throws at us, but what I can do is teach my daughters to live their lives with hope, grace, and faith."
