Brooke Shields's acting career began when she was just eleven months old, when she appeared in a TV advert. She worked as a child model and devoted all her spare time to acting. The twelve-year-old Brooke had her big breakthrough playing the young prostitute Violet in Pretty Baby, before being cast as the lead in the film drama The Blue Lagoon at the age of fourteen.
For Brooke Shields, The Blue Lagoon was a curse and a blessing at the same time. While she captured the hearts of male viewers everywhere, film critics were not as easily captivated by her performance and she was even awarded a Golden Raspberry.
Later on in her career, she appeared in countless films and series such as Law & Order and Two And A Half Men. Her greatest success was probably the series Suddenly Susan, in which Brooke took on both the starring role as well as acting as the series's producer. Brooke Shields was even nominated for a Golden Globe for Suddenly Susan.

Brooke most recently appeared in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Jane the Virgin.
