These 'Bonanza' Actors Are Actually Still Alive
The legendary western series Bonanza attracted millions of viewers in the sixties and seventies. Meanwhile, the "Cartwright" family has passed away unfortunately, but two members of the Bonanza main cast are still alive!
Bonanza is one of the most famous western series in the world and tells the story of the wealthy "Cartwright" family. "Benjamin Cartwright" (Lorne Greene, †72) and his three sons "Adam" (Pernell Roberts, †81), "Eric" (Dan Blocker, †43) and "Joseph" (Michael Landon, †54) live on the "Ponderosa Ranch" in the vicinity of Virginia City, Nevada, bordering Lake Tahoe.
While Bonanza was still on TV, Dan Blocker ("Hoss") died of a pulmonary embolism. His death eventually led to the cancellation of the series. The other leading actors Lorne Greene, Pernell Roberts and Michael Landon have also already passed away.
But two actors who were part of the main cast are actually still alive. One of them is Mitch Vogel (63), who played the orphan boy "Jamie Hunter" - he is retired from acting and works as a businessman today. The former actor now lives in southern California with his wife and two daughters.
Bonanza star Tim Matheson still works as an actor
Tim Matheson (71) played the role of the convict "Griff King" in Bonanza. Even after the series, he was successful as an actor and still has regular appearances on TV and in features.
From 2011 to 2015, he starred in Hart of Dixie and this year he appeared on This is Us. His most recent project is the Netflix show Virgin River, which is coming out later this year. Tim Matheson is happily married and has two children.
