Tippi Hedren has long been known as a devoted animal rights activist. Get the latest on her current living situation with big cats, as told by her actress granddaughter Dakota Johnson.

For Hollywood icon Tippi Hedren, not too much has changed even as she's now hit 90 years of age.

The star of The Birds is known for her extreme support of animal rights — which some might even say got out of hand in 1970s.

Hedren began to rescue exotic cats and keep them in her home for the 1981 movie Roar. The film shoot led to serious injuries for Hedren and her family, including daughter Melanie Griffith, who starred alongside real lions and tigers on-screen.

Now, actress Dakota Johnson, who is Griffith's daughter and Hedren's granddaughter, is opening up about her grandmother's current life as a big cat lover.

Johnson recently joined Graham Norton's talk show for an interview, where the host revisited the topic of Hedren's domestic life with free-roaming big cats.

"Does [Hedren] still live with the big cats?" Norton asked.

"Yes. She has 13 or 14 lions and tigers," Johnson explained. "There used to be like 60 cats, and now there's just a couple."

Fortunately for Johnson, who's 30-years-old, the family's nonchalant attitude toward big cats in the house changed before her birth. The actress is the daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson.

"By the time I was born [the animals] were all in huge compounds and it was a lot safer," she added. "It wasn't as totally psycho as it was when they first started."

Still, Johnson's reveal of her grandmother's continued life with big cats comes as something of a surprise!

According to People, Hedren still lives at her non-profit Shambala Preserve in California. But it's unclear if those 13 or 14 animals do truly roam Hedren's living quarters or if they're in their own compound at this time.

Norton and Johnson also examined some incredible photographs of Hedren and Griffith surrounded by big cats in domestic settings. The clip from Dakota Johnson's interview on The Graham Norton Show is included below.
