Tom Hanks: Acting talent often overlooked
Hanks' friends Julia Roberts and Ron Howard have shared their favourite memories about the Forrest Gump actor. Longtime friend Ron Howard who directed Hanks in Splash (1984) and Apollo 13 (1995) says that his acting talent is often overlooked due to him being such a great person overall. "He’s like one of those athletes who is so effortless that you don’t realize that he’s the game-changer," Howard said according to People.
Tom Hanks sees himself as part of a team
The 63-year-old thinks of himself as part of a team instead of an individual. Tom told People earlier this year, "I like being part of an ensemble. Anybody can make it a miserable day by being cranky or self-centered, by thinking it’s all about them instead of all about the whole."
Tom Hanks is a "goofball"
According to Maura Tierney, Hanks is "not afraid of being a goofball," as he is known for taking selfies on people's phones that leave them lying around. He Neighborhood co-star Matthew Rhys talks about "how viciously well-read, well-informed and intelligent he is." Noting that Hanks has a "great mind."
Julia Roberts is longtime friends with Tom Hanks
His longtime friend and co-star, the wonderful Julia Roberts, also weighed in on Tom Hanks. "What doesn’t change about Tom, he is as happy and excited as ever. About work, about friendships. It doesn’t change or wane over time," the actress said.
