'St. Elsewhere': This Is William Daniels Today
Many television enthusiasts will know William Daniels from his roles in St. Elsewhere, Boy Meets World and as one of the most famous TV-voices from the 1980's! But what is William Daniels up to these days? Find out right here...
When you were watching TV in the 1980's and 90's, you were sure to encounter William Daniels (or at least his voice!) in one of his many roles in a vast number of television shows. Williams grew up in New York City during the 1930's and served in World War II - he was stationed as a radio DJ in Italy.
One of his first notable roles was as Dustin Hoffman's father "Mr. Braddock" in the award-winning movie The Graduate in 1967. Daniels went on to star as John Adams in the 1972 musical movie 1776 and then became part of the main cast of The Nancy Walker Show from 1976 until 1977.
William Daniels starred as "Dr. Mark Craig" in St. Elsewhere
Then in 1982, Daniels did not get one but two career-defining roles in the same year. He was cast as "Dr. Mark Craig" in St. Elsewhere and as the voice of "KITT" in Knight Rider. He starred as "Dr. Craig" alongside TV legends like Mark Harmon and David Morse for all six seasons of the show and managed to also do the voice for "Michael Knight's" (David Hasselhoff) famous speaking car until 1986.
In the 1990's he joined another popular TV show and played the role of the teacher "George Feeny" for 148 episodes in Boy Meets World. When the show ended, Daniels was already in his mid-seventies and in the 2000's, he only did a couple of guest appearances on shows like The King of Queens, Boston Legal and Grey's Anatomy.
William Daniels: His personal life
Daniels made his last appearance on TV, actually reprising his role as "Geroge Feeny", in Girls Meets World in 2017 and in the same year published his autobiography titled "There I Go Again: How I Came to Be Mr. Feeny, John Adams, Dr. Craig, KITT, and Many Others". Ever since 1951, the 93-year-old has been married to fellow actress and Emmy-winner Bonnie Bartlett and they adopted two sons, who also work in the entertainment industry.
