Paul McCartney premieres "Beautiful Night" remastered music video
On July 17, McCartney premiered the remastered music video on his YouTube channel. His late wife, Linda McCartney, also sang backing vocals on the track. Sadly, it was her final music video appearance, as she passed away from cancer in 1998. Ringo is on drums and backing vocals, and has a section where he takes on the chorus solo.
In a statement reported by Rolling Stone, McCartney reflected on how the collaboration with Ringo Starr came to be, and what the rare Beatles reunion meant at the time.
"I'd been saying to Ringo for years that it'd be great to do something, because we’d never really done that much work together outside the Beatles," McCartney recalled. "One night Jeff Lynne suggested, 'Why don’t you get Ringo in?' and I said, 'OK!' It just sort of happened."
"I had this song 'Beautiful Night' which I'd written quite a few years ago. I'd always liked it but I felt I didn't quite have the right version of it. So I got this song out for when Ringo was coming in, and right away it was just like the old days," McCartney shared.

In recent Beatles news, McCartney gave a birthday shoutout to Ringo, his "long time buddy," on his 80th birthday – which fell just last week, on July 7. The Beatles bassist and singer is also nearly an octogenarian himself, as he celebrated his 78th birthday in June 2020.
In addition to McCartney's Flaming Pie reissue (due out July 31), he also released an EP that contains four different versions of "Beautiful Night." The Beautiful Night EP is available digitally now.
