This Is How The British Royal Family Spends Their Christmas Holidays This Year
It's the holiday season and people all over the world are getting ready to spend time with their families and loved ones. And it's the same for the royal family - here's what their Christmas holidays will look like this year!
Every year, the British royal family spend the Christmas holidays and New Year at Sandringham House in Norfolk. The entire family will again come together this year and spend Christmas at Queen Elizabeth II's country estate - with the exception of Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan, who are going to travel to California and spend Christmas with Meghan's mother Doria this year.
Royal Christmas: The Queen will take the train to Sandringham
Just like every year, Queen Elizabeth II will travel the 100 miles north to Sandringham Estate by train. She takes the train to King's Lynn station and has a car waiting for her there.
While Queen Elizabeth II actually has multiple trees at Buckingham Palace, there will also be one large tree in the dining room at Sandringham. According to the website of the royal family, the "Queen and Members of her family, will usually put the final touches on their Christmas tree."
The Royal family: Presents are exchanged on Christmas Eve
On Christmas Eve (honoring their German heritage), the family will be laying out their presents on trestle tables. The gifts will then be exchanged at teatime that same day. If you are wondering, what the royal children will find on the table on Christmas Eve, here is what Prince George and Princess Charlotte asked for this year.
On Christmas morning, the Royals attend church
The Queen is the head of the Church of England and this year, she will be attending the Christmas morning service with Prince William, Duchess Catherine and their children. The royal family usually walks to St Mary Magdalene church in Sandringham, where the service is held.
Could the royals even break with some of their traditions this year? We'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out. And maybe we'll even see some pictures of Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan with little Archie Mountbatten-Windsor in California!
