Duchess Catherine's Passion For The Arts Shines Through During School Visits
Duchess Catherine visited two schools during Children's Mental Health Week to promote her passion for the arts and mental well-being for children. She even shared some of her favourite art projects that she does with her three children!
The Duchess of Cambridge visited two schools on Tuesday in her bid to celebrate and highlight well-being during Children's Mental Health Week. Having an art history degree herself, Kate's passion for the arts is something that she holds near to her heart and hopes to pass down those passions to her children and highlight the importance of art and the impact it has on mental well-being in children.
Arts and Crafts With Her Kids
Duchess Catherine confessed that she loves to get her hands dirty when playing with her children. They love to do papier-mâché and even charcoal drawings to keep the fun, creative juices flowing for the children. The Duchess praised a schoolboy at Alperton Community School for switching off from the online world of social media and smartphones to concentrate on his artistic side.
Speaking From Experience
The Duchess spoke about her time learning art and finding her artistic side to some senior art students by saying, "I loved art when I was at school, and I did art A Level as well, I still look back on that time and still love the skills I learnt then, so I hope you'll feel the same. It will be a skill you'll have for life," according to People.
Concerned About Social Media Use
Kate is also concerned with the use of social media in schools and the impact that has on the children's mental well-being. She asked questions to staff about the use of technology in the schools and is pleased that teachers and staff are aware of it's damages if used incorrectly. However, staff struggle with the use of technology in the home as well as it's not just a school-day related issue. The Duchess responded with, "you can't just look at the well-being of children without looking at the whole context, the school and the home. So many times parents haven't had a good experience at school themselves" according to People.
We are so pleased to see Duchess Catherine using her passions for the arts not only in her home with her three children, but also out in her Royal Patronages to bring awareness to the importance of mental health and well-being for children everywhere.
