Duchess Kate and Duchess Camilla carried out a joint video call with three of their respective children's hospice patronages in order to mark this year's Children's Hospice Week. And Kate made a special promise on the call to one particular family.

Duchess Kate was joined by the Duchess of Cornwall on a video call last week to mark this year's Children's Hospice Week (June 22 to 26) The two royals talked with three of their respective children's hospice patronages and thanked the charities for their work during these critical times.

And Duchess Kate also made a promise to the family of a boy who was cared for by her patronage East Anglia Children's Hospice (EACH).

Duchess Kate: "Children's hospices go that extra mile"

Kate spoke to Stuart and Carla Delf, whose 13-year-old son Stuie ran a sponsored 5K every day in the month of May to remember his nine-year-old brother Fraser, who passed in January. Stuie raised over £15,000 (almost $19,000) for the EACH and he told the Duchess he was inspired by Sir Thomas Moore, the 100-year-old war veteran.

She replied: "Oh Captain Tom. Captain Tom has done a lot for this country, hasn't he? He's inspired so many people. You must be very fit, Stuie."

Talking with Carla Delf, the Duchess added: "Children's hospices go that extra mile actually and support families like yourselves, I think it's extraordinary. And, like you say, they consider the whole family as well, which is really important."

After the call, Stuart Delf said: "[The Duchess] said she was going to plant a sunflower in memory of Fraser. I'm not sure which EACH it's going to be, but at one of the hospices." A lovely gesture by Kate - the sunflower has actually been adopted as the official emblem of hospice care...Get the latest updates and more news on the royal family right HERE!
