According to recent reports, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have changed the name of their foundation Sussex Royal. The name change was actually part of the deal the couple made with the senior royal family members when they stepped back from their duties - they agreed to no longer use the word "royal" as part of any new branding in the future.
Prince Harry & Meghan's Sussex Royal foundation has a new name
So, Sussex Royal is no longer the name of their foundation, which is now called the MWX Foundation, according to reports from HELLO! as well as the Daily Mail. The current theory is that the name could be short for Markle Windsor Foundation.
The paperwork for the name change was reportedly submitted at Companies House in early August and the new name so far only appears on the Company House website for the Private Limited Company. As mentioned above, the actions taken by the royal couple are in accordance with the terms of their royal exit.
"Given the specific UK government rules surrounding use of the word 'Royal', it has been therefore agreed that their non-profit organisation will not utilise the name 'Sussex Royal' or any other iteration of 'Royal'," a statement on their website read a couple of months ago.
"While there is not any jurisdiction by The Monarchy or Cabinet Office over the use of the word 'Royal' overseas, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not intend to use 'Sussex Royal' or any iteration of the word 'Royal' in any territory (either within the UK or otherwise) when the transition occurs Spring 2020."
The couple, whose son Archie Mountbatten-Windsor turned one year old this year, officially exited the royal family on March 31st of 2020, after having already moved to North America at the start of the year. They have settled down in California and bought a new home in Santa Barbara recently.
