Kate Middleton made a surprise call to a set of new parents. The clip was posted to the Kensington Royal Instagram account in a post about mental health for new mothers and their families. See it below!

Duchess Kate greeted the parents of a newborn during a recent video call. Not only that, but she also got to say "hi" to the baby in the cute video!

The parents had their son at Kingston Hospital, near London, England, where Kate had visited for two days in late 2019.

"Very nice to meet you. This is definitely a first," Kate begins to say in the clip. "Well, firstly, huge congratulations. Is it a little boy or a little girl?" After learning that it's a boy, she responds, "He's so sweet. Awe. Congratulations!"

Kate Middleton's 2020 Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week

An edited clip of the video is included at the start of a post that appeared on the Kensington Royal Instagram page. In it, Kate is also seen talking with a midwife, hospital staff, and other health experts. Their conversations were filmed ahead of the UK's Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week.

The post's caption notes that Kate discussed "the challenges and impact that COVID-19 is having on new and expectant mothers and their families."

Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week begins on Monday, May 4. Per the Instagram post, the week "aims to create wider awareness of maternal mental health, and signposts support for parents." Duchess Kate is a patron of the week.

Duchess Kate's video call with parents and their newborn

Rebecca, the new mother seen in Kate's video, offered a few words to People about the birth and her chat with the Duchess.

"Having a baby is an extraordinary experience at any time, but having one during lockdown and then having a surprise conversation with the Duchess of Cambridge after two hours sleep was particularly surreal!," she said.

"The Duchess asked us about having a baby at such an unusual time, and our experience on the maternity ward was that all the midwives made it as normal as possible – apart from the masks, it was exactly the same as when we had our first son, Rafe, in 2015. The midwives were amazing on both occasions."

Kate, meanwhile, placed the call from her home in Anmer Hall, Norfolk, where she's been self-isolating with Prince William and their three children. The couple also celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary last week and the fifth birthday of Princess Charlotte on Saturday.
