Happy 25th Birthday @_place2be — here's to many more! The Duchess of Cambridge, Patron since 2013, hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the charity's incredible work over the past 25 years. No child or young person should have to face mental health problems alone — and that has been the founding mission of Place2Be, whose teams across the UK have provided mental health services in schools. Speaking at this evening's reception, The Duchess said: "Having visited many of your schools, meeting hundreds of your wonderful staff, children and young people, it is heart-warming to see that the support you provide is so much more than just being there in a time of desperate need". #25yearsofplace2be
Duchess Kate: "One of Louis' favourite songs"
Later on, she thanked the school children and wished two of them a happy birthday while joking that she should be the one singing for them. She then revealed a fun fact about her youngest, Prince Louis, when telling the children that "Happy Birthday" is actually "one of [Prince] Louis's favourite songs." She added that her son, who is turning two years old soon was "tucked up in bed" and not at the event.
The Duchess later spoke about the impact of Place2Be, which was one of the very first patronages she took on in 2013 after becoming part of the royal family. "You taught me, right from the start, that the children in your schools are only as happy and emotionally strong as the adults in their care," the mother-of-three said. "That is why you take such great pride in the work you do with your teachers and your parents. You taught me the importance of creating safe and nurturing environments within schools..."
