Meghan Markle has sat down for an outdoor interview with feminist Gloria Steinem. The pair was in conversation for a Makers Women's "backyard chat," during which the Duchess discussed representation, voting, and femininity with Steinem. Royal fans have speculated that the talk took place in Harry and Meghan's backyard, because their pet dogs also appear in the video!

The Duchess of Sussex has joined forces with a feminist icon for an important election-season conversation.

On Aug 25, Makers Women released a preview of a Q&A session that Meghan led with Gloria Steinem—the prominent feminist activist and journalist. The pair spoke casually while seated outdoors, in what Makers calls a "historic backyard chat."

Makers describes itself as being dedicated to "accelerating the women's movement through stories of real-life experiences that ignite passion and action." The media group brought together the Duchess and Steinem for a conversation on "representation, why each vote matters and how all women 'are linked, not ranked'."

The preview video of the Q&A showcased some lighter moments of the conversation, as well as highlights of Steinem's vital message for young voters.

"If you don't vote, you don't exist. It is the only place we're all equal," Steinem said in the clip.

On young voters, she added: "I can understand the feeling that they don't think they have an impact. And yet it's more important for them to vote than anyone else, because they're going to be alive long after I am. And they're going to be suffering the consequences."

But to Meghan's question of hope for the future, Steinem clarified, "I do feel hopeful."

Harry and Meghan's pet dogs steal the show

At another moment in the video, Gus and Pula—Harry and Meghan's dogs—wander into frame and join the casual outdoor gathering. Seeing as the pets are present, royal fans have speculated that the backyard setting could be the Duke and Duchess's L.A. home.

The Sussexes had been living at Tyler Perry's Beverly Hills mansion prior to moving to a home of their own in Santa Barbara last month. They made the move quietly after battles with paparazzi at the former residence.

It's expected that Makers will release Meghan's full Q&A with Steinem on Aug. 26.
