Report: Harry & Meghan Could Return To UK Over Prince Philip Health Concerns

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are "hopeful" to return to the UK for Christmastime this year, according to several reports. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to want Archie to spend time with his extended family, especially Prince Philip, whose health as a 99-year-old has generated worries in recent years.

Family will always be family. According to UK and US press reports, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reconsidering initial plans and may return to visit the Royal Family for the Christmas holiday in 2020.

As outlets such as Vanity Fair and Express report, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are concerned for the health of Prince Philip, who is now 99 years old. They hope to return home so little Archie can spend time with his great-grandfather, who spent time in hospital last year.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may soon return to the UK

There were few indicators that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would return to the UK in the coming months, but Prince Philip's well-being and the world's unforeseen health crisis could soon change those plans.

A source close to the couple told Vanity Fair that the Sussexes hope to return to England to spend Christmastime with Prince Harry's family.

"There's a lot of tradition surrounding the holidays with [Harry's] family, and they both have really loved that in the past," the source said. "With the uncertainty of Covid-19, they have been taking it one day at a time and are hopeful that they can all go back together and spend it as a family.

"Time will tell if that will need to happen and if it could potentially impact what they do and when. But they are all eager to get back to spend time with Harry's family and for Archie to see his great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II and great-grandfather Prince Philip in particular."

Although they have not publicly reunited with the Royal Family since stepping down as working royals, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have kept in touch with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles.

Recent reports have noted that video calls made by the couple have even included occasional appearances by 1-year-old Archie. Today, Harry and Meghan also led off the UK's Black History Month with a new campaign, article, and video interview — in which their pet beagle made a surprise appearance, but sadly no Archie this time around.
