Prince William visited the Royal London Hospital last year, where he co-piloted the capital's Air Ambulance's helicopter and learned more about the challenges of being a first responder. Now Kensington Palace has confirmed that the Duke of Cambridge has become patron of London's Air Ambulance Charity! Read the full story below...

Kensington Palace announced that Prince William has become patron of London's Air Ambulance Charity, an organisation that has been important to the Duke of Cambridge in the past years, having worked as an air ambulance pilot for over two years, for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

"His Royal Highness has seen first-hand the impact these first responders have upon the lives of patients with critical injuries. As Patron of the London's Air Ambulance Charity, the Duke will continue to champion those working on the frontline, and highlight the charity's vital work in supporting the London's Air Ambulance's rapid response to incidents, and its provision of life-saving medical treatment," announced Kensington Palace.

Prince William has quite a few different celebrity friends!

Prince William learned about the challenges of being a first responder in London

In 2019 Prince William visited the Royal London Hospital, where he met clinicians and paramedics, while co-piloting the London Air Ambulance's standby helicopter. The Duke of Cambridge learned more about the challenges of working as a first responder. It was one of the eight charities represented in the King Cup's sailing regatta 2019, where Prince William and Duchess Catherine competed in.

"We are honoured that the Duke of Cambridge has chosen to become Patron of London's Air Ambulance charity after getting to know us last year. The Duke truly understands our work and knows that every second counts in an emergency," said Jonathan Jenkins, CEO of London's Air Ambulance Charity.
