Prince William, Duchess Kate and their children will return to their standard family home after spending nearly six months at Anmer Hall in lockdown. It's expected that they'll relocate to Kensington Palace in the very near future, in advance of Prince George and Princess Charlotte's new school year. The family had been at their country residence in Norfolk since the early stages of lockdown.

The Cambridge family is on track to return home ahead of the 2020-21 school year.

Prince William and Duchess Kate originally relocated with their children to Anmer Hall, their country residence in Norfolk, in the early moments of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, after spending the majority of the last six months there, the family will head home to Kensington Palace in London.

According to Hello!, the move will come in advance of Prince George and Princess Charlotte's new school year, which begins on Sept. 7. The Duke and Duchess had been homeschooling their oldest children after U.K. schools shutdown amid the pandemic, but the young royals will return to in-person classes next week.

The initial move to Anmer Hall came about as the parents sought to protect their children during the outbreak of COVID-19 in London. For several months, the Duke and Duchess were limited to Zoom calls in place of typical royal duties, before slowly returning to usual outings in June.

The return to London comes after the Cambridge family had also begun to venture out in recent weeks. Following William and Kate's socially-distanced solo outings in Norfolk, the couple visited Barry Island, Wales, on a joint outing in early August.

The family then managed to take in a brief holiday at the Isles of Scilly before making their annual trip to see the Queen at Balmoral Castle last week. They're expected to arrive at Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace before Sept. 7. Prince George and Princess Charlotte will both attend the new term at Thomas's School in Battersea.
