Prince William, Duchess Kate and their children made the annual visit to Balmoral Castle this past week. It's thought to be the family's first in-person gathering with the Queen since she entered lockdown, originally at Windsor Castle, back in March. It was reportedly a "socially-distanced" visit that came with great meaning for the royals.

The Cambridge family has made the trip north to Balmoral for a visit with the Queen.

Prince William and Duchess Kate arrived with the children at the Queen's summer residence earlier this week, according to a new report in The Sun. The family-of-five reunited with the 94-year-old monarch and Prince Philip for the first time since lockdown measures were enacted in March.

It was an understandably meaningful stop-in for the Cambridges, who were said to be "over the moon" about spending time at Balmoral. Per The Sun's report, the Duke and Duchess recognize that it's been a "difficult year" for the Queen and Prince Philip, so the whole family was "keen to go there to show their support."

The "HMS Bubble" is still in effect to protect the nonagenarian royals, but outdoor visits have taken place. The Queen is said to have enjoyed quality time with her great-grandchildren—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—out on the grounds of the Balmoral Estate, too.

No visuals of the Cambridge family's trip to Balmoral have emerged as of yet. Previous photos have captured the Queen walking on the estate grounds, as well as visits from Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex with their children, and Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank.

Princess Anne, who recently celebrated her 70th birthday, was named as another visitor to Balmoral in The Sun's Aug. 29 report. The trip to the Scottish Highlands residence also wraps up a late summer of travel for the Cambridges, who earlier visited the Isles of Scilly with their children.
