Will Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan lose their royal titles after all? In the official statement from Queen Elizabeth II on the resignation of the royal couple from senior royal duties, there are now signs of this.

After Duchess Meghan (38) and Prince Harry (35) publicly announced their withdrawal from the British Royal Family as senior members, Royal fans were eagerly awaiting the statement from Queen Elizabeth II (93).

On Monday the Queen made her statement in an official letter. One thing immediately stood out: Queen Elizabeth II did not call Harry and Meghan by their titles Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Do Harry and Meghan have to give up their titles now?

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan: First signs of title surrender

For British media such as the Daily Mail and the Daily Mirror, the naming of Harry and Meghan without their titles is a clear indication that the couple must give them up. Queen Elizabeth II respects Harry and Meghan's decision, although they "would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family", the statement says among other things.

In the future, the couple wants to commute between Canada and the United Kingdom. At the Queen's request, a decision is to be made quickly for this transitional phase around the status of Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan, however many questions still remain unanswered.

"These are complex matters for my family to resolve, and there is some more work to be done, but I have asked for final decisions to be reached in the coming days," the Palace statement said.

Whether or not Meghan and Harry will ultimately keep their titles will be determined in the coming days. Stay tuned...
