On July 29th, 1981, Prince Charles and Princess Diana committed to one another. Just a few hours earlier Charles supposedly talked to his friends about the wedding ceremony and expressed doubts in his choice.

Prince Charles (70) and Lady Diana (†36) were celebrated at their wedding as THE royal dream couple. What almost nobody knew back then is that neither Diana nor Charles stepped before the altar without a doubt. Prince Charles is said to have confided his thoughts to his friends shortly before the wedding.

Prince Charles found Princess Diana much too young to marry

As the new Channel 5 biography Charles and Di: The Truth Behind Their Wedding revealed, Prince Charles had massive doubts. "She is exquisitely pretty, a perfect poppy. But she is a child. She does not look old enough to be out of school, much less married," Prince Charles apparently said a few hours before the ceremony.

Diana was just 20 years old when she married Prince Charles. Her husband was 32 years old at the time. Some friends of the groom shared his worries and wanted to keep him from the marriage, but Charles finally decided to go through with the wedding.

Princess Diana also had doubts about the marriage

Meanwhile, Princess Diana also had doubts and struggled with her feelings before the wedding. Shortly before the wedding ceremony she found a parcel that Prince Charles wanted to send to Camilla. Princess Diana knew of her fiancé's attachment to Camilla, and some time after the wedding she even confronted her with her knowledge.

Despite these obstacles, Diana and Charles still got married, but their union was ill-fated and their marriage did not last, as we all know.

Diana passed away tragically in a horrific car accident in Paris in 1997, and in 2005, Charles eventually married Camilla Parker-Bowles, making her the Duchess of Cornwall. He has been quite happy with her ever since.
