Marilyn Monroe graced the cover of the first ever issue of playboy in 1953! But the photos, which show her naked on red velvet, had already been taken in 1949 by photographer Tom Kelley. They were published for the first time in a 1952 calendar. The photos caused quite a scandal as many of her fans hadn't known that she had been a pin-up girl before becoming an actress. The scandal worked in her favour though, as the "bad press" only served to boost her career even further.
