Dancing With The Stars: Jordan Fisher Unsure Of Tyra Banks
July 30, 2020 - 05:49 / Hayley Paskevich

In a new interview, Jordan Fisher has revealed that he thinks Tyra Banks is an "odd" choice to host Dancing With the Stars! He explained why and also talked about his new movie. Find out what he said here!

Jordan Fisher is uncertain about Tyra Banks taking over as host of Dancing With the Stars! As Entertainment Tonight mentions, Fisher opened up about his thoughts on the hosting shakeup during a new interview.

Fisher is "curious" about the choice to have Banks host DWTS

Fisher said that the decision to have Banks as the show's new host is one he's not sure of yet. "It's odd. Tyra is very talented, and ABC, I would say, most of the time knows what they're doing," he told Entertainment Tonight's, Katie Krause. "It's really just a matter of seeing it actually happen."

"I'm curious... the tonal quality of the show is so family-oriented, and I think that Tom [Bergeron] and Erin [Andrews] have played a large part in cultivating that feeling for fans at home," Fisher went on to say. "So their absence, I think, is... I mean, it's evident based on social media and all that stuff how people feel in terms of their absence from the show."

Jordan Fisher attends the premiere of Netflix's To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You on February 3, 2020.

Fisher doesn't know what Banks' DWTS will be like

Fisher has had some significant experience in the ballroom himself! As Entertainment Tonight mentions, he was the season 25 winner of DWTS, and the following year, he hosted a younger version of the show, Dancing With the Stars Junior. "She's an EP on the show as well, so I don't know," Fisher said of Banks' involvement.

"I don't know what that's gonna look like or sound like or feel like, or anything along those lines," he continued. "So, we'll see. We'll see when the show comes back up." Earlier this month, longtime DWTS hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews announced their exit from the show. It was then revealed shortly afterward that Banks is set to be the new host!

Fisher talks about his new dance-themed movie Work It

Fisher opened up about the Dancing With the Stars host change while promoting his new Netflix movie, Work It. The movie also stars Sabrina Carpenter and Liza Koshy, and will be released on August 7. But while the movie is themed around dance, Fisher says that "it's not really about dance."

"It's really about people. It's about growth, it's coming of age," he explained. "It's a true underdog story, which isn't atypical where a dance film is concerned, but to me, the messaging that I think is very important, hopefully, the people take away from it, is like, how OK it is for plans you have in your life to change."

"Life will throw you curve balls, and however you navigate that... informs the success of your journey," he shared. "There's not enough out there that talks about that." The DWTS host change is certainly a curveball, and Fisher isn't the only celeb to open up about it! Former DWTS pro Derek Hough recently shared his thoughts, and one of the show's current judges, Carrie Ann Inaba, talked about the shakeup as well!
