'Fast & Furious 9' Gets 2021 Release Date After Coronavirus Delays Opening
F9 (Fast & The Furious 9) received a significant delay as a result of the coronavirus's impact on the film exhibition industry. It will now get an April 2021 release, rather than its scheduled May 2020 opening date.
Fast & Furious 9 - also known simply as F9 - has pushed its May 2020 release date to nearly one year later. F9 will now come to theatres in April 2021. The film is the latest of several to take such a step, which is motivated by public health concerns and the economic status of the exhibition industry.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, people are being discouraged from gathering publicly in large groups. It's also a possibility that movie theatres in North America could temporarily shutdown in the coming weeks.
Fast & Furious 9 release date postponed
It's disappointing, but necessary news for fans of the popular action movie franchise. F9, the ninth instalment in the series, was scheduled to hit theatres on May 22, 2020. The new release date for the film comes around a calendar year later, on April 2, 2021.
F9 released its first trailer back in January, as part of the special "Road to F9 Concert and Trailer Drop" event in Miami, Florida. The official trailer has now amassed over 30 million views in a little over one month. See it below in case you missed it.

Fans of the Fast & The Furious movies now have time to revisit the franchise's many films prior to the arrival of Fast 9 in 2021. Series regulars including Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, and Ludacris are all set to return for the ninth movie.
F9 joins A Quiet Place Part II and No Time To Die on the list of postponed early 2020 movies. No Time To Die will show in November 2020, while A Quiet Place Part II's rescheduled date is so far unknown.
