Joker has been described as a dark and disturbing new release. Nevertheless, the film has been incredibly popular this weekend breaking the October box office record.

Joker shows the origin of the "Joker" following "Arthur Fleck", a man with mental problems and also a failed stand-up comedian who turns to a life of crime and chaos in Gotham City. The new film stars Joaquin Phoenix.

Joker breaks records

Todd Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix’s dark villain movie Joker will have earned $93.5 million at the domestic box office from Friday to Sunday. Before the weekend, there were concerns that the film’s bleak themes and imagery could inspire real-life violence, prompting some theatres to hire extra security.

Reviews for Joker are mixed to positive and it currently has a 69% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
