Karen Grassle became a household name starring as "Caroline Ingalls" in Little House on the Prairie in the seventies and early eighties. But what is the actress up to now?

Karen Grassle, who is now 77 years old, knew from an early age what she wanted to be when she grew up. After majoring in English and Drama at the University of Berkeley, she received a scholarship from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.

The role of her lifetime: "Caroline Ingalls"

The Little House on the Prairie audition was her first big audition ever and she beat forty-seven other actresses to the role. She soon became known worldwide as Caroline Ingalls. Michael Landon played Charles Ingalls her husband, a farmer and mill worker. He also directed 87 of the 203 episodes produced. When the series ended after eight seasons, Grassle went on to appear in smaller productions for the big, as well as the small, screen, such as Murder, She Wrote, The Love Boat and Wyatt Earp

Karen Grassle is also an activist

Over the years, Grassle has remained true to her calling, appearing in films such as Tales of Everyday Magic and My Greatest Teacher. She is also a women's rights activist and founded one of the first women's shelters in the United States.
